Magica believes in the concept that yoga finds us for a reason, and, as it happened to her in 2008, exactly when we need it. She completed her 200 hour certification in 2012 and has since taught over 1000 yoga classes and done numerous continued study workshops and trainings. She enjoys teaching varied styles, including Power Vinyasa, Hot, Yin, Family and Children's Yoga.
Magica also teaches in the Theater Department at Columbia College and has been a teacher and an actress for all of her adult life. Both of those occupations require intense presence, but Magica didn’t know how much more present she could become until discovering yoga. She hopes to nurture such a discovery in each practitioner that comes into her classes. Every moment, even the most difficult ones, can be fully embraced in presence. Magica strives to create an environment where each student will feel comfortable to be completely present for their practice, so that they may fully observe their growth, moment by moment.
CrossFit Gymnastics Certified
Certified personal nutrition coach
Track & field and gymnastics background (10 years of each), graduated from EIU in 2015 with a degree in dietetics, and also where I ran D1 track for 4 years. I started CrossFit to switch up my summer training for track. When I graduated, CrossFit became my main focus with Regional goals in mind. Olympic lifting and gymnastics skills are my favorites and specialties. I've started my competitive CrossFit career most recently, and look forward to my second ever CrossFit Open season in 2017. I train not because I want to look or feel a certain way, I train because my body was made to be pushed to it's limits. And I strive to instill that in the athletes I coach. It's not about a number on the scale or pant size, those just come as bonuses to being fit.
